Ralph Jerome Born January 20, 1923 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Died September 16, 2010 at Hackensack Univ. Hospital.
A resident of Rutherford, he was married 63 years to Vincenzetta (Fran) nee D'Elia of Rutherford. Father of Louis and his wife Judy, Marie Boxer and her husband Edward, Ralph and his wife Mary Jo. Eight grandchildren: John, Eddie, Allison, Kristin, Leah, Ralph, Ariele and Sara and 3 great-grandchildren: Olivia, Jackson and Mia. He is predeceased by his sister Carmella and survived by his brothers Louis and William.
He served in the 77th Division of the Army during WWII. He was a veteran of many campaigns and was specifically involved in the retaking of the Philippines and Guam. He was also part of the occupation force after the war. He was very proud of his accomplishments and the medals he received.
Ralph worked as a traffic manager & accountant for General Felt Industries, Saddle Brook.
He belonged to the Guardsman of Rutherford and was recently their Man of the Year. He was also President of UNICO 1986-87 and participated at the Kipp Center. A parishioner of St. Mary's since 1961, he enjoyed spending time with his family on Cape Cod, in Blairstown and Glen Rock, as well as making wine and crabbing with his brothers. He loved tending to his vegetable garden.
Friends will be received on Sunday, 4-8pm @ Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Avenue, and Rutherford. A Mass will be held on Monday, 9:30 am Church of St. Mary, Rutherford. Interment: Holy Cross Chapel Cemetery, N. Arlington.
