Obituary for Raul Wong,Sr.
Raul Wong, Sr., 84, of Kearny, passed away on Sunday April 5, 2020. Born to Leon Wong & Paulina in
Aguada de Pasajeros, Cuba.
Raul married the love of his life, Sofia and recently they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Together they raised two children, Ileana and Raul.
Raul had a long accounting career in the banking industry. He initially worked for the Chinese American Bank upon his arrival from Cuba and retired from the European American Bank.
Raul is loved by everyone and will be fondly remembered as caring, genuine, generous, good-natured, kind, and selfless. He was gregarious, jovial, fun to be around, willing to try new things, always ready to spend time with family and friends, and “always going, going, going”. He was child-like in his excitement for cooking new recipes, collecting cooking gadgets, and a “techie” of his generation. He was dependable, as well as very organized and ingenious. He was also amazingly orderly and systematic with his spreadsheets, documents, his calendar, photos, and so many other things.
Raul will be dearly missed by his wife Sofia, his children, Raul & wife Joy, Ileana & Vicky, his grandchildren, Peter, Emma, Brandon and his sibling, Mercedes Wong. He is predeceased by his brothers, Jose Wong and Estanislao Wong.
