Obituary for Robert Clifton Jr.

Robert Reynolds Clifton, beloved partner of Lee Frances Brown, went to our Lord on February 22, 2014 at age 78.
“Bob” was a lifelong resident of Rutherford , New Jersey . He retired from Sandoz (now Novartis Pharmaceutical Corp.) after 27 years as an Executive in the Event Planning field. In that capacity, he traveled internationally and authored numerous published articles of relevancy.
As an officer (lst Lt.) in the Navy, he served in Vietnam and had deep respect for his fellow servicemen.
Bob loved sports – his Yankees and Giants, and was a skilled ballplayer in his own right having played with numerous teams throughout the years. We can all envision and remember Bob with his New York Yankee baseball cap always in place. Track was his expertise at Rutherford High School .
His alma mater, Ohio Wesleyan and his fraternity brothers offered him much friendship and camaraderie for Bob.
He most recently served for a number of years as a Republican County Committee representative having been elected to that post.
Some of the numerous affiliations held by Bob through the years have been: Chairman for the Boy Scouts of America, Advisory Boards for Sonesta International Hotels, Marriott Hotels and the Sheraton Hotels, Rutherford Chamber of Commerce, New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Olympic Committee (1980-1984), Advisory Boards for the College of St. Elizabeth and Fairleigh Dickinson University (1971-1973), amongst many other organizations to which he gave his knowledge and time. Of special note, he was very proud of being appointed as a Deputy Sheriff of Essex County.
Bob leaves many friends and family members who will miss his presence among us.

Friends and Loved Ones are gathering Friday 10:00am followed by 11:00am Prayer Service in the Sanctuary of The First Presbyterian Church, One East Passaic Avenue, Rutherford.
