Obituary for Robert W. "Bob" Moss

Moss, Robert W. (Bob) aged 87, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2013. Mr. Moss was born on February 9, 1926 in Rutherford, NJ to H. Lee and Ethel (Everett) Moss. He honorably served his country during WWII with the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Duluth. Upon his discharge he pursued his education at Rider College of New Jersey. Upon graduation he married Joan Van Saun of Ridgewood and raised his family in his beloved Rutherford. He served his community as a proud member of Rutherford Engine Company 2 “Tophatters” Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years. Mr. Moss is survived by Joan Moss, his devoted wife of 63 years, brother Richard Moss of Waterford Springs, VT, son Gordon and wife Kate Moss of Littleton, NH, daughter Susan and husband Frank Cherubino of New Milford, NJ, daughter Nancy and husband Matthew Catanese of Glen Rock, NJ, daughter Barbara and husband Nick Sconzo of Clifton, NJ, son Rob and wife Kristin Moss of Washingtonville, NY, 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to join the family on Monday, September 16, 2013 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford, for a celebration of his life. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home followed by internment at Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Rutherford Volunteer Fire Department and the Rutherford first Aid Ambulance Corps.
