Obituary for Robert E. "Bobby" Fagan

Robert Edward Fagan, Sr., 72, of Ramsey & Manahawkin, passed away on October 17, 2023, in Ramsey. He was born on August 26, 1951, in Jersey City to Hugh & Edna (McGimpsey) Fagan.

Robert attended Rutherford High School and graduated in 1970 and later served in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he met and married the love of his life Patricia (Regan) Fagan and have been married for 49 years.  He had a successful career as a Senior Recreation Maintenance worker for the Borough of Rutherford for 38 years.  He also dedicated 25 years to refereeing and umpiring baseball, basketball, and predominantly football. Additionally, he served part-time at local funeral homes for 15 years.

Robert, known for his loving and funny nature, was always whistling and humming. He enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his family and friends. He was also an avid golfer and a superior carpenter, often working on projects at his beach house. Most importantly, Robert loved spoiling his grandchildren with "pancake money."

Robert is survived by his wife Patricia (Regan), his children, Robert, Jr., Matthew & Erin & husband Brian Murphy, grandchildren, Cecilia Patricia 10, Jack Robert 7, Brian Joseph & Patrick Robert 6, siblings, Hugh & MaryEllen, Ann, Jerry & Paula, Judith & Roger, Virginia & Dennis, Janice, Colleen & Tom, in-laws, Timothy & Laura, Eileen & Jack, Kelly & Gerard, Ann Marie, and a boatload of loving nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. He is predeceased by his brother Lawrence & sister-in-law Karen, sister-in-law, Kathy & brother-in-law, William Regan.

The family will receive friends Thursday Oct. 19th from 3:00 to 7:00pm at the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford. Funeral Friday gathering 9:30am at the funeral home for a 10:30am Mass of Christian Liturgy at the Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford.  Private Cremation.  Inurnment at a later time at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
