Obituary for Robert F. Lindquist

Robert F. Lindquist, 96, of Clifton, passed away peacefully, Thursday, November 14, 2019. He was born in Chicago to Warner and Cecelia Emily (nee Heins) Lindquist.
Robert proudly entered into the United States Air Corps during WWII in August, 1943. His Military occupational specialty was Radio Operator Mechanic on a B-52 Aircraft. He participated in Air Offensive over Japan, Western Pacific for Air Combat. He received the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal, Go 17 with Oak Leaf Cluster and World War II Victory Medal. He later received an Honorable Discharge as Sergeant (40th Bomb Group).

Robert was a graduate of UCLA with a Bachelors Degree. Most of his career was in Sales and Marketing (for 45 years) with Vicks Corporation- Proctor and Gamble, before retiring.
Robert had a beautiful marriage for 35 years to the love of his life, the late Margaret "Joan" (nee Mc Cormack) Lindquist (1999). He enjoyed golf and tennis and the many trips with the Kip Senior Center in Rutherford. He loved his pets, especially his dog, who was closely beside Robert when he passed away.
He was known by his close friends and family to be a wonderful and kind man…a true gentleman.

Robert will be sadly missed by devoted sister-in-law Patricia Hansen and husband Thomas, sister-in-law Mary E. Wiley and the Wiley nephew and nieces; Jay, Mary Helen, Maureen, Bridget, and Erin, sister-in-law Rose Marie Alvarez - Mc Cormack, niece Meredith Dinneen of Seattle, Washington and longtime devoted friends, Freddy Chandler and Hal Anderson and compassionate caregiver Yvonne Bennett. He is predeceased by his sisters Rosemary Parke, Lynn Dinneen.

Family and friends are invited to attend a “Celebration of Life” Memorial Visiting from 4-6pm on Saturday, December 7, 2019 in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Avenue, Rutherford. There will be a United States Air Force Honor Guard Presentation.

In lieu of flowers, it was Roberts wish that your next dinner out... think of him.
