Ruth Marie McElroy Aston, 91, of Waynesboro, VA, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Augusta Health in Virginia.

Ruth was born May 20, 1918 in New Jersey, to the late Warren and Anna (Naughton) McElroy. She graduated from Passaic High School. And later was employed and retired from New Jersey Bell Telephone, now Verizon. Ruth was an avid reader, crossword puzzle worker, and loved animals. As time went on she moved from Rutherford to be with her daughter Marjorie in Waynesboro. There she joined the First Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro transferring her membership from the Rutherford Congregational Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas Aston and is survived by her 3 daughters; Nancy Barros and husband Joseph of Alabama; Marjorie Sass and husband Walter of Waynesboro; Eileen Bendyna and husband George of Alabama; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Religious Services Saturday 10:00am by the Rev. Wilkinson in the Collins Calhoun Funeral Home 19 Lincoln Ave. Rutherford.
Followed by interment in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9pm
