Obituary for Taiquin S Hairston

Taiquin Seth Hairston went home to the Lord on October 28th, 2021.

He was born in New York City on February 25th, 1961 to his parents Otis and Barbara Hairston. He grew up in Brooklyn until he and his parents moved to Manhattan prior to his high school years. Although he was an only child, he spent most of his time surrounded with a diverse group of friends and enjoyed casual filmmaking and comic books. He attended Stuyvesant High School prior to matriculating at SUNY Brockport, where he majored in Computer Science and French. After college, he pursued his love of languages, studying French at Sorbonne University for two years, before returning to New York City to work as a Fire Safety Computer Specialist, programming fire stations in many buildings in Midtown and the Bronx. It was then that he met his wife, Candice Hairston. After they married, they lived in Harlem, New York. Taiquin was 32 years old when he became the father of Tai Kyung Hairston and moved to Northeast New Jersey with his wife to ultimately settle down in Paramus. He was an integral part of the community in Paramus, chaperoning his son’s High School Band competition trips and serving as his town’s recreation youth soccer coach for 7 years. Everyone wanted to be on his soccer team. He was very loved by his son’s friends and his neighbors. He was a man of faith and loved his Lord Jesus Christ. He served his church Rutherford Bible Chapel faithfully for 14 years by serving in many roles including as a children’s Sunday School teacher. He loved watching soccer, especially his favorite team Barcelona. He also loved playing video games with his son and many friends online and learning different languages: he spoke French and Spanish fluently. He was a jovial man, full of integrity, humility, and courage.

He is survived by his spouse Candice Hairston, his son Tai Kyung Hairston, and his daughter-in-law Teresa Hairston.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 6th at 10:30 AM with an option to greet one another starting at 9:30 AM at the Rutherford Bible Chapel (161 West Passaic Ave., Rutherford, NJ 07070).
