Obituary for Tamara "Tam" McKenzie

Tamara McKenzie, 89, passed away quietly from natural causes in Hackensack Hospital on September 14, 2021.
Tam was born on March 10, 1932 in Manhattan and was the daughter of Marion McKenzie (nee Jackson) and George McKenzie.
Tam graduated from Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood, NJ. Tam spent the majority of her working years as a highly valued supervisor at MetLife and spoke fondly of her career. She was an avid sports fan and her passions included faithfully watching every available Mets and Giants game and lovingly raising her dogs, Misty, Muffet and Miko. Tam was a phenomenal athlete and starred for an all-women’s traveling basketball team and even was invited to participate in the U.S. Olympic trials as a sprinter.
Tam was also the best friend and soul mate of Jutta Judicke (deceased 2006). Tam and “Judy” were inseparable, whether it was enjoying cross country trips, visits to Atlantic City, playing poker, bowling with close friends or rooting for the Mets and Giants. Tam’s favorite poker game was Barbara Hutton, named after the founder of the Woolworth five and dime stores (5’s and 10’s are wild).
Tam is predeceased by her sister, Natika Stephenson. Tam’s kindness, warmth and sense of humor will be profoundly missed by all of us. Rest in peace, Tam.
There will not be any Funeral Services.
