Obituary for Teresa Rooney Dobrowski
Teresa “Terri” Rooney Dobrowski, 61, of Rutherford, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday August 1, 2021.
She was born to Lucy Biase and Patrick Rooney in New York City on November 5th, 1959, She was raised in both Palisades Park and Bogota in New Jersey with her younger brother, Patrick Rooney, and grew up alongside their grandparents and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Terri was a charismatic mother who loved her children more than anything. She always kept the people around her laughing and was never too tired or busy to listen when someone needed a shoulder to lean on most.
Terri had two beautiful and devoted children, daughter Jeanette Dobrowski, and son Eric Dobrowski, with her former husband Stanley Dobrowski. Terri will be deeply missed not only by her children, but by her current partner of over ten years, Edward Czaplewski, her large extended family including cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and her many friends.
Terri’s favorite place to be was near the ocean and she loved staying down the shore and at the beach. She was a long time member of the Rutherford American Legion Post 109 and the Rutherford Elks Lodge 547. Teresa was an avid Mets and Giants fan and loved watching all the games. She was an Insurance Underwriter for many years and studied Psychology at William Paterson University and Ramapo College.
Family will receive visitors on Friday, Aug 6th from 4-8pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave, Rutherford. Services in the funeral home start at 7pm.
Please be encouraged to wear purple in her memory, traditional black otherwise. Mask wearing is optional.
