Aged 93 Years
Thomas McManus, 93 of New Port Richie, Florida passed on January 13, 2021. Tom was born in his family’s homestead in Coolkill, Derrylin Co Fermanagh Ireland on April 3, 1927. He was raised a farmer, the second eldest of thirteen children of Denis and Agnes McManus. As a teenager he briefly worked in an iron foundry in Birmingham England after World War II. He set sail on the Queen Mary on 2/28/1948 and emigrated to New York City. Tom met his wife, Hannah, and had four children. He worked for the NYNEX (f New York Telephone Company) and retired after 37 years to New Port Richey Florida. He was devoted to his family and was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. Tom enjoyed his retirement traveling, spending time making memories with his children and grandchildren. He is left behind by his brothers, sisters, two sons, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and their families. He lived life to its fullest, strong, sharp, and quick witted. He will be deeply and sorely missed by all that came to know and love him.
Family will receive friends on Friday, February 12th, in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home 8:30am to 10:00am.
Immediately following, there will be a 10:30am Mass of Christian Liturgy celebrated in the Church of St. Mary, 91 Home Avenue, Rutherford.
A private Interment will take place in St. Raymond's Bronx, NY.
