Vernon, 89, long time resident of Rutherford, passed away April 4, 2014. He was born in Russell, NY to Bernard Frederick and Florence Hazel (nee Weidmark) Davies in 1924.
Vernon was a proud US Marine having served during WWll in the Pacific Theatre participating in action on Iwo Jima & received Presidential Unit citation for Saipan and Tinian operations while serving with the 4th Marine Division, 24th Marines. He also served in the 1st Marine division in Korea during the Korean Conflict.
He was an Operating Engineer with Local 825 in Springfield NJ for over 30 years before retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Rutherford VFW, American Legion, Marine Corp League in Kearny. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rutherford .He enjoyed participating in many local parades driving his restored antique Military Jeep and he was a private pilot who loved performing aerobatics as recreation in his biplane.
Vernon is predeceased by his first wife Dorothea (nee Hobbs), Davies(1949), his wife Doris (nee Parker) Davies,(1993). He is survived by his sons Vernon Morris Davies and wife Lana of Mercedes,TX, Scott L. Davies and wife Valerie of Clifton, Tracy H. Davies and wife Debra of Toms River and his daughter Michelle Treanor and husband Kevin of Saddle Brook. He will be missed by his 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren He is predeceased by his siblings, Peggy Macleod and Marion Hill.

Prayer Service Wednesday 12:30pm in the Collins Calhoun Funeral Home 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
Interment in George Washington Memorial Cemetery, Paramus

Family will receive friends and loved ones in Funeral Home on Tuesday 2-4pm and 7-9pm.

Donations may be made to the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home, 1 Veterans Way, Paramus, NJ 07652
