I remember meeting Eddie for the first time. Eddie was a very good friend of Bob Trabalka (God rest their souls). At the know it all age of 17, I started dating Bob's daughter, Karen. I wasn't exactly what fathers hoped their daughters would end up with...long hair, tattoos, etc. (but always respectful). I could tell that Bob wasn't "thrilled" but he toughed out toleration when it came to me. I suspect Bob mentioned the situation to Eddie because when I showed up one day when Eddie was there, I had the hammer dropped on me. Bob may have been playing "Good Cop" but Eddie was definately playing "Bad Cop". Eddie was calm, cool, and intimidating..."You know this is my family...I'm very protective when it comes to my family...Karen's like a daughter to me...it would make me very angry if Karen ever got hurt..." I was very uncomfortable at this point and I did everything I could to convince Eddie that I had nothing but the most innocent and noble intentions. Somehow I got out of there in one piece and over time I think Eddie realized that I wasn't all bad and maybe even liked me a little. Looking back, I respect and love Eddie for what he did...looking out for people he loved. I know that he and Bob are catching up.
