Condolence: You are all in my thoughts and prayrs during this sad time. But do know that Mr. Ivan meant so much to so many people. I always considered him just one of the many great "teachers" at Dalton and in my life. He will be missed but not forgotten.

Condolence From: Barnaby Starr
Condolence: The Dalton School taught me so much, but all the lessons learned were
not necessarily from the teachers. Ivan was very much a presence in my
life at Dalton (1961-1974.) He was always smiling and generating a combination of strength and gentleness. I remember when Sal got
his leg caught in one of the elevators and we were all worried, Ivan
helped calm everyone. During many of my returns to the campus, Ivan always seemed to remember me and great me warmly. This meant much to me. I support you in this difficult time and assure you that this man
was an inspiration to many!
with sympathy, Barnaby Starr

Condolence: Ivan was one of the warmest and most caring educators at Dalton. He taught us about humanity, about hard work and about kindness with his ever present smile.

He will be sorely missed.
With sympathy and love, Jill

Condolence From: Matthew Guerreiro
Condolence: My deepest condolences to Ivan's family. I was a Dalton student from 1967 to 1975, and have fond memories of Ivan's imposing presence in the school. (But while us kids found his European formality somewhat intimidating, there was always a twinkle in his eyes.) Every June he was one of the most popular attendees at the alumni reunions. He will be missed.

Condolence: Dear Noella, Ivan Jr., Yvette, Raf, and extended family members all:

I am sad to hear of Ivan Arteschene's passing. As a middle- and high-schooler back in the 1980's, I have vivid and fond memories of Ivan, who was the backbone of our collective unseen companion, the Dalton School building-- by operating its then manual elevators, troubleshooting and repairing its many systems, from basement and theatre to the cafeteria and science rooms, library and gym, and from lobby to street, as well as by seeing us into and out of the building each day.

It is no exaggeration to say that I have as lasting a memory of his constant and helpful presence as for my favorite teachers and classmates.

Try as I might, it is impossible to imagine 40 East 89 Street without him.

Please find comfort in the fact that Ivan still means this much to me after twenty-five years, and that I'm only one of many of us who frequented the halls and classrooms he maintained so well.

Sincerely,
Alex Levi

Condolence: As one of many thousands of children Ivan affected, I can tell you honestly that his presence at the school was a tremendous comfort and pleasure for me whenever I experienced it. Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss, and best wishes for a happy and healthy future, which I'm sure Ivan did everything he could to assure.
Sincerely, Oren
