Obituary for John Angelo "Dancing John" Mania

John Angelo "Dancing John" Mania

John Angelo Mania, 88, long time resident of Elmwood Park, passed away suddenly surrounded by his family December 10th, 2013. Born and raised in Paterson to Angelo and Virginia (nee Pelletteri) Mania in 1925.
John was a proud Veteran for the United States Army Military Police during World War ll.
While he and his wife Rosemarie were raising their family in Paterson (before moving to Elmwood Park in 1967), John owned and operated their family Grocery store “Mania’s Grocery and Deli”also located in Paterson. He loved running the business with his mother and he enjoyed all of the local patrons who frequented the store on a daily basis. People today, still talk and write the family about John making the "best sandwiches" they ever had. The grocery store/ Deli was all he knew from childhood and where he stayed for many years before selling the store, he was then employed for ten years with Brooks Brothers in Paterson until he finally retired.
John’s passion was music & dancing. He was called “dancing John”. He frequented local fun spots most of his life to dance, play match maker to young couples & just meet and talk to people about life and relationships. Anyone who knew him loved him and wanted to talk to him. His family was most important to him in his life.
He is predeceased by his wife Rosemarie (nee Pacelli) 1992. He will be greatly missed by his devoted sons Angelo & his wife Debra Mania (nee Delle Chiaie) of Pompton Plains, and Ronald Mania of Elmwood Park, his loving grandchildren, Anthony & his wife Ashley, Matthew & his girlfriend Caitlynn and his beloved sister Anna “Nina” Gannaio and her husband Sam, his nephews Michael & his wife Lisa, Johnny & his girlfriend Lisa and great grandnephew Michael Christopher.
