January 13, 2014 Dear Arnolds Oh! Such sad news! I'm glad that Cyndie and I stopped to see her Christmas Eve. She looked well and said she was all set for Christmas. So I was surprised by the news of her passing. Phyllis welcomed us to Mountain Way in 1969. You were all so young and were wonderful to the Sloan Girls. Your Mom nurtured our girls for 35 years. My children lovingly refer to Lou and Phyllis as "Arn" and" Arnie" since they "coined" the name as teenagers. It was sad when Lou passed and it is sadder now that we have lost the "Matriarch of Mountain Way" generations of children recall Phyllis sitting on the front porch as they passed by. She was a great neighbor and friend and saved my children many times like when they forgot their house key, she sat thru numerous fashion shows of new school clothes, met all the new boy friends and never once became impatient with any of my kids requests. We have great memories of your Mom and Dad, Joann, Pattie, Barbara, Louis and Rob, especially our Labor Day Picnics! Our families have intertwined over the years through friendship and that continues todaythru Jimmy and my grandson Blake. Phyllis was a remarkable person who showed independence, who always had an upbeat tone of voice and a great sense of humor. She voiced pride in her children and love for her husband all the years that I knew her. I thank her for all she did for my family and we will miss her greatly. Our Prayers are with all of you.
