Rose Cavenna, of Ridgewood (formerly of West New York, NJ and Georgetown, KY) passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph and Josephine Ameduri.

As a young woman, Rose worked in downtown Manhattan as a Secretary in the Corporate office of Woolworths. She married her sweetheart Robert John (“Johnny”) Pantano in 1947. They met and lived in Brooklyn where they began their family. Two years later, they moved to West New York, NJ. Sadly, John passed away tragically in 1954. Rose remained in West New York where she continued to raise her three children.
She met Anthony V. (“Tony”) Cavenna who was a neighbor and widower who lived across the street through their children playing together. They eventually fell in love and married and became a blended family. Tony passed away in 1998. Rose knew God had blessed her with two wonderful loving husbands who cherished her and who she cherished in return.
Rose continued to live in West New York until 2007 when she moved to Kentucky to be near her youngest son and his family. In 2016 she returned to New Jersey, settling in Bergen County, near her other children and their families.
For many years, Rose was the President of the Election Board in West New York, and President of the Mother’s Auxiliary for the Boy Scouts. Rose also volunteered in Palisades General Hospital in North Bergen. During retirement, Rose worked in quality control in a local embroidery factory.
Rose loved to crochet. She also enjoyed music, doing ceramics and cooking her wonderful meals. She enjoyed and took pride in her home. Rose loved her family deeply and enjoyed having them visit and spend time with her. She was very friendly and enjoyed people and was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be missed by all.
When asked “What brings you joy?” Rose responded: “Being with my family – grand and great-grandchildren and children”, “When my work is all done!”, “My music”, and “Everyone being happy and healthy!”
Rose loved to say her Rosary and prayers daily and continued to pray every day of her life.

Rose will be deeply missed by her children; Dolores and husband Richard, Rose Ann, Robert and wife Susan, Jo Ann and husband Arthur, John and wife Kathy, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Nicholas Ameduri.
