The Dalton School taught me so much, but all the lessons learned were not necessarily from the teachers. Ivan was very much a presence in my life at Dalton (1961-1974.) He was always smiling and generating a combination of strength and gentleness. I remember when Sal got his leg caught in one of the elevators and we were all worried, Ivan helped calm everyone. During many of my returns to the campus, Ivan always seemed to remember me and great me warmly. This meant much to me.
